Steps to volunteering
1. Fill out an online application for the hospital you are interested in.
2. Upon receipt of your application, we will review it based on your interests, availability, and our current openings. If we determine a match, we will contact you for an interview. Please keep in mind that as we would like to accommodate all candidates, we are not able to accept everyone.
3. As part of the interview, we will discuss your placement and schedule. Most assignments have a set schedule (same day/time of the week). If you don't think you can commit to a set schedule due to other responsibilities, please let us know so we can assign you to an opportunity that allows for more flexibility.
4. After the interview and acceptance into the program, all candidates must do the following before their first day of volunteering:
- Complete online volunteer training.
- Consent to a criminal background check if 18 or older.
- Complete a free medical screening. The screening includes a blood draw for a tuberculosis (TB) test and verification of the following vaccinations:
- Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
- Influenza (flu) – applies during flu season (usually October through March)
If you don’t have any of the required vaccinations, you will have an option to receive them through us at no cost to you. If you have a medical or religious reason for not receiving certain vaccinations, you’ll have the option to submit an exemption form for review.
We’ll share detailed instructions and guide you through all the steps once you get accepted into the program.
