At Advocate Christ Medical Center, our kidney transplant team delivers patient-focused care for people with end-stage renal disease through personalized treatment plans, innovative therapies and equitable access to kidney transplantation.

Our kidney transplant program was founded in 2009 and is the only transplant center conveniently located in the South Chicago area. Patients can visit our transplant center at Advocate Christ Medical Center, 4400 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn.

Our multidisciplinary team of experts work hard to provide our patients with individual attention and one-on-one education along with evaluating eligible candidates for transplant, performing innovative kidney transplantation surgeries and providing personalized follow-up care. We specialize in living kidney donation and participate in kidney paired donation (KPD) as well as dialysis access services, including AV fistula, AV graft and peritoneal dialysis catheter placements.

Multidisciplinary kidney transplant team

Our team of experts includes highly trained surgeons, transplant nephrologists, transplant nurse coordinators, pharmacists, dieticians, social workers, psychologists and many other specialties. Patients have 24/7 access to the transplant team, which provides one-to-one patient education. There is consistent communication by the transplant team with the patient, family, referring physicians, general nephrologists, dialysis centers and other providers. The team's focus is providing compassionate, personalized care and careful follow-up. Members of our multilingual staff are fluent in a number of languages, including Spanish, Hindi, Polish and French.

Our surgeons have the advanced training and experience to perform combined heart and kidney transplants; re-transplants; and bloodless transplants, as may be required by religious tradition (e.g., Jehovah's Witnesses).
