What you need to know about online doctor visits
Our online virtual care providers are just a tap away from helping you feel better.
When you’re not feeling well, instead of driving to a clinic or your doctor’s office, you can get a diagnosis and treatment plan from home, work – just about anywhere – with a telehealth visit.
You might be wondering: Who are the Advocate Health Care providers on the other side of the camera or computer and how can they help me? Here’s a look at what virtual care is all about and what services our providers offer.
Telehealth visits with your doctor online or visits with our next available provider online are options to get care wherever you are for minor illnesses – the kind of issues you might seek care for at an immediate care clinic.
To get care from your own doctor online during office hours, call your doctor’s office and ask if a video visit is appropriate for your condition or the symptoms you’re experiencing.
If you need urgent care, consider a Quick Care Video Visit with the next available provider on our team. Quick Care Video Visits are an option for the types of conditions and symptoms you might usually visit an immediate care center for – everything from anxiety and depression to cold and flu symptoms and more. See the list of conditions and symptoms we diagnose and treat with Quick Care Video Visits.
Not sure which virtual visit is right for you? Use Symptom Checker to help you find care based on your symptoms. Your options may include an e-visit, where you’ll fill out a questionnaire and get an email response from the next available provider within an hour – or your own primary care provider within 24 hours.
Online doctor visits may be an option with your own provider. You’ll need to call the provider’s office and request a video visit. If they agree your condition can be managed virtually, then they’ll schedule an appointment just like an in-person visit.

If you use Symptom Checker in LiveWell and an e-visit is the type of care you choose to get, you’ll answer a few questions about your symptoms. The next available telehealth provider (or, if you choose, your own primary care provider) uses this information to evaluate your condition and message with your diagnosis and treatment plan.
You’ll see an online doctor or other member of your care team during an online doctor visit with your provider. Call your doctor’s office to discuss options for seeing your doctor online.
When you request a Quick Care Video Visit, the next available virtual care provider on our team will diagnose and treat you – 24/7. If you choose to complete an e-visit after using Symptom Checker, you’ll have the option to submit your e-visit to the next available provider and get a response within one hour – or your own primary care provider and get a response within 24 hours.
Yes, they’ll be able to access your medical history right from your LiveWell account.
Be prepared to discuss your symptoms and answer a lot of detailed questions. This will help the online doctor or virtual care provider better understand your symptoms and health concerns. They’ll use that information to make a diagnosis and to determine the right treatment for you.
After your Quick Care Video Visit or e-visit with the next available provider, you might have additional medical questions. If so, call 844-284-0381 and ask to speak with a virtual health nurse. If you submit your e-visit to your own primary care provider, call their office to speak with your care team.
