Our past & present

A tradition of sharing and caring

The Service League raised funds and helped pave the way for Lutheran Deaconess Hospital, Chicago, to build a new medical facility in Park Ridge. The new facility, Lutheran General Hospital, opened on Christmas Eve in 1959. Community involvement continues to make an impact on Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, its patients, and the surrounding communities.

The Service League continues to oversee fund raising efforts which support programs that benefit the needs of patients and furthers the mission, values and philosophy of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. It operates the hospital Flower Shop, brings popular vendors to the hospital for special sales, and stages the annual Tree of Lights fund raising event.
