Telehealth visits
Your time. Your place.
Illness doesn’t wait to crop up during office hours. Or sometimes you might not feel well enough to see your provider in person. That’s why we offer a variety of ways for you to see an Advocate Health Care provider when and how it’s most convenient for you, including our telehealth options.
Telehealth – sometimes called virtual visits – is another way for you to get health care with a provider. Instead of driving to a clinic or your provider’s office, you can hop on your mobile device or computer to receive a diagnosis and treatment plan when and where you need it.
With telehealth, you have the option to see your own primary care provider via video visit during office hours or hop on a video visit to get care from the next available provider. We call this 24-hour care a Quick Care Video Visit.
E-visits are also a great option to get care any time of day. Just complete a questionnaire and get an email response from the next available provider within an hour – or your own primary care provider within 24 hours. To see if an e-visit is a telehealth option for you, use Symptom Checker. This tool can help you find the right type of care based on your symptoms.
The biggest benefit of telehealth is getting health care without leaving the house when you’re sick. Just answer a few questions about your symptoms, then get care from a provider at a time that’s convenient for you. You also don’t have to worry about taking your sick child out of the house and into a busy waiting room.
Telehealth services are available to almost everyone in your family, though kids younger than 2 years old still need to be seen by their own provider. Ask your child’s pediatrician about scheduling a video visit or an in-person appointment instead.
If you’re 18 or older and physically located in Illinois, Wisconsin or Michigan, you can request a video visit. You also can request video visits for kids ages 2-17 if you’re their legally authorized representative.
When doing telehealth visits, you can rest assured we protect your health information. Video visits feature telehealth security measures to ensure only you and the provider have access to your visit. We also keep your personal information safe when you’re recommended an e-visit when using Symptom Checker.
Yes, you can. If you think you’re experiencing COVID symptoms, contact your primary care provider. They may be able to see you the same day in person or with a video visit. You also can hop on a Quick Care Video Visit for 24-hour care to discuss your symptoms and testing options.
If you’ve tested positive for COVID, you can also use Symptom Checker to help you find the right type of care. Your telehealth options could include an e-visit.
