How do e-visits work?
Receive a diagnosis and treatment plan within an hour.
When life is busy, our e-visits offer you an easy solution to get 24/7 care from just about anywhere. They’re also quick – once Symptom Checker determines you’re eligible for an e-visit, answer a few questions and you’ll receive a diagnosis and care plan from the next available virtual care provider within an hour. If you prefer, you can submit your e-visit to your own primary care provider, who will respond within 24 hours instead.
E-visits are for minor illnesses like cold symptoms and back pain. And if you need antibiotics for an infection such as a urinary tract infection (UTI), an e-visit is an alternative to visiting urgent care or your primary care provider.
To see if an e-visit is right for you, use Symptom Checker to find care based on your symptoms. We’ll recommend the right type of care, which may include a virtual visit.
Virtual visits like e-visits and Quick Care Video Visits are the quickest, most convenient way to get 24/7 care for minor illness and injury. And if your symptoms require an in-person visit, Symptom Checker will recommend an appointment with your own provider or can help you find local urgent care near you.
If you haven’t had a telehealth visit before, you may be wondering how they work. If eligible, you can get started with your e-visit within minutes.

If you're an Advocate Health Care patient and are 18 or older, you can use Symptom Checker and submit an e-visit for yourself if it’s offered to you. You must be physically located in Illinois, Wisconsin or Michigan when you submit the e-visit.
You can also use Symptom Checker and submit an e-visit for kids ages 2-11 if you're their legally authorized representative and an e-visit is offered. E-visits are not available for children under 2 and teens ages 12-17, but you can request a Quick Care Video Visit.
If you're eligible for and choose to submit an e-visit, you can choose to get care from the next available virtual health provider or your own primary care provider.
All our providers will be able to access your medical history right from your LiveWell account. They’re trained to diagnose and treat common conditions and minor illnesses and will provide your diagnosis and care plan.
If you choose an e-visit with the next available provider, you can learn more about virtual health providers and the services they offer.
At any time during the e-visit, the next available virtual health provider may advise you to seek in-person treatment. You may be asked to come in for lab tests, like a urine sample, after your e-visit as part of your diagnosis and care plan. They’ll also let you know if you should follow up with your own doctor.
If you have questions or concerns after your e-visit with the next available provider, you can speak to a virtual health nurse by calling 844-284-0381. If you submitted your e-visit to your own primary care provider, call their office to speak with your care team.
Once you’ve submitted your e-visit to the next available provider, you’ll need to call 844-284-0381 to cancel your e-visit. It can’t be canceled online. If you submitted your e-visit to your own provider, call their office to speak with your care team.
